It was here that he and his new bride, Miss Kansas, Tara Dawn Holland, who went on to inherit the title of Miss America in 1997 settled into their life together.

The name, “Idlewild”, is an American variant of Idyllwild, a commendatory name for a resort, suggesting vacation and unspoiled nature. “Idlewild” originates from the classic novel, Anne of Green Gables, written in 1908 by Lucy Maud Montgomery and is the name Anne gives to the playhouse surrounded by birch trees that is her home, and shares with her best friend, Diana. A nod to nature, just like Anne’s playhouse, Idlewild Farm is a place to escape, relax, reimagine, play and simply enjoy life.

Recently, the home has been meticulously renovated and updated under the direction of best-selling author, and owner of City Farmhouse, Kim Leggett. Throughout the 5300 square feet of interior space, Kim has included luxury touches, such as a simple Chef’s kitchen featuring a French La Cornu range, along with curated antiques, original art and vintage decor, that Kim is known for bringing into her designs. Luxury features abound at every turn at Idlewild Farm, and the outdoor space is no exception. Situated just off the French/English patio garden is a heated cocktail pool where guests can sit and sip on a beverage while basking in sunsets, or star gazing.
